More and more companies are looking to design an exterior to improve the quality of life at work for their employees. Not every business benefits from an outdoor space, but when it does, there are numerous advantages to arranging that space optimally to meet the growing needs for nature and open spaces.

This space can take the form of a terrace, a balcony or even a furnished garden. It can be used for relaxing moments, to have lunch in the sun in summer or even to work.

Have you ever tried to work outside? Moreover, according to the ACTINEO 2023 barometer (panel of 1200 active workers), 36% of the employees surveyed work monthly in a third place, including 12% outside (on a terrace, in a garden or a public park).

Gone are the days when you only left your office for a cigarette break. Today, outdoor spaces can be used as complementary workspaces, as long as the space is well designed.

Relaxation or work areas:

At first glance, outdoor spaces are spaces whose main function is relaxation. Above all, it is a place conducive to rest and conviviality, where people come to breathe, clear their minds and recharge their batteries.

Generally designed as extensions of indoor spaces, outdoor spaces are often an extension of a company restaurant or cafeteria.

These spaces are therefore the ideal place to relax over coffee, tea or a lunch break.

If in addition the company has a garden (with grass, trees, all that), the opportunity is great to set up garden furniture and why not an outdoor kitchen for the feeling of a weekend in the countryside. If more the furniture is ecological, what more could you ask for? Also according to the ACTINEO 2023 barometer, 72% of the working people surveyed believe it is important to use recycled and/or second-hand furniture.

It is with this in mind that the Italian brand Colos, a partner of Hexagone, creates beautiful and functional furniture, designed to last. Colos uses both metal and plastic from internally recycled materials to produce chairs with a “bellisimo” design.

Every Monday morning do you process your emails from 9 am to 10:30am? What if this chore became more enjoyable in the open air? Weather permitting, the outside can be a particularly pleasant and productive complementary workspace.

Whether it's to meet, brainstorm or just because you need peace and quiet, the possibility of working outside is a real added value for employees: less stress and more satisfaction!

Outdoor spaces: performance and corporate showcase

Designing the outdoors can be a real asset in promoting work performance. Reinvesting outdoor spaces makes it possible to create changes in the working day of employees according to the tasks and the time of the day and to break their professional routine.

The careful layout of outdoor spaces gives character to a company, thus helping to strengthen its brand image. Welcoming customers and partners in a pleasant environment is a winning strategy to make a good impression!
