Discover La Maison Volubilis: our unique showroom
A beautiful address in the heart of La Défense, a breathtaking view of the capital: you can talk about a crush from the first visit. And because a view is not everything, we entrusted the keys to our fabulous architect Angélique Pursard (our Tinker Bell, magician, storyteller, unparalleled creator) who came up with a unique concept.
More than a very beautiful showroom layout, it is a real visiting experience that she created on this large plateau on the 15th floor. Overflowing creativity, partners of choice, French gems... the magic happens.
A unique place for exhibition and living welcoming a careful selection of brands around furniture and office furniture. This house is a unique showcase of all the know-how in the sector. It is also the demonstration of the French offer, furniture and innovative layout solutions according to a single leitmotif: beautiful and sustainable.
So, before going through the door of the House, what could be better than an interview with the person who imagined it all?
Meet Angélique Pursad, our architect.
Can you introduce yourself in a few words?
“A Norman Swiss Army Knife.”
I like to approach projects in all their guises.
My plural background allows me to be as sensitive to The Commercial approach by promoting the customer's product, Marketing by finding the right words to tell a tailor-made story, that Design by staging my ideas in a place where uses and ergonomics are my priority.
Beyond building a living space, beautiful friendships with my customers are often born and I love that.
3 words to describe your style, your universe?
Emotion, onirism, color
How did this project with Hexagone start?
A year and a half ago, when I started my own business to make a living from my passion, I met Hexagone thanks to the recommendation of a brand collaborator with whom I had already worked before.
My priority was to honor his trust and his risk taking! I can say today that I succeeded 😊 He comes to work with a banana, even if he often thinks my ideas are crazy! Besides, if he reads me, he will say that the word “wacky” is no longer said... 😀
How did the concept come to you? Was it obvious or, on the contrary, a lot of thought until the idea hit the mark?
I like to talk about synchronicity, you know the coincidence that suddenly makes sense, causes a strong emotion, and happens at the right time. This is what happened for Maison Volubilis.
Three days before presenting the main axes of the project to the French team, I accidentally reopened a book that I was reading to my boy. And by going through it, I found all the subjects and interests that I wanted to highlight in the showroom: architecture, design, treasure hunt, dreaminess. This book would become the binder, the common thread of the visit.
The fact that it was a children's book also allowed you to put yourself at the height of a child and to get out of the box, to break down the barriers that you put on yourself as an adult. Disregard constraints. Addressing topics like a child: without taboos, with unlimited creativity.
If you had to summarize the universe you imagined for Maison Volubilis, what would you say?
The Volubilis House is a bit like the encounter between the geometry of the Bauhaus movement (found in the book) and the comforting abundance of objects steeped in history, those that give soul to a house.
The fun side is paramount at Maison Volubilis: through the idea of the treasure hunt, we will encourage the host to question himself, to act in order to be an actor in his visit. The idea is to invite him to take ownership of the place.
It is also a place where the hosts are not there by chance, all share common values.
What did you like best about this project?
The moment when Alain, Brand Director, told me about his mom when I presented the concept to him. “I remember my mom talking to me about this flower.” And then I said to myself, “That's good, I managed to get him on the adventure.” And it is what I am looking for in each project. Find something that will please him, amuse him and finally gain his trust.
Do you have an unusual anecdote to share about the layout of Maison Volubilis?
Le Trône (designer toilet brand): I think I exhausted the project manager to get this object as... business card holder! I am not telling you more, you will have to come to understand!
Access to the Franklin Tower as well. When I get involved in the design of the project, the place becomes my home before the client's. And for the little anecdote: one day, I was at home, the project was finished and the tower reception called me to ask for permission to let in the customer who forgot his badge!!! I had obviously become the caretaker of the premises 😀
What is your favorite place in the house?
The dining room, because I see everyone there and it reminds me of my childhood. I was always doing my homework in the kitchen when mom cooked dinner on the way home from school. I can still see her peeling potatoes by the sink. The living rooms are the ones where I feel best, it's the same as Maison Volubilis.
Finally, a sentence (or two) to make those who read us want to come and discover the House?
Come and have a coffee, you will encounter beautiful ideas and especially beautiful people who do not pretend to know but to do everything to get there. I loved the kindness and enthusiasm of the entire project team with whom I collaborated. I come to work there very often and I will no doubt have the chance to meet you there!
